Seattle Getaway

This weekend, Davis and I made our first weekend side trip to Seattle to visit my cousins Vicki and Mike who have been there for about 3 years. It was my second trip to the city and Davis' first so there were a lot of things to see and do, and we managed to squeeze a lot in to our 28 hour visit. The obligatory walk-thru Pike Place Market was too crowded for many pictures, but then we had a pleasantly calm walk down to Lake Union...full of boats and airplanes and little Max got to come along : )

Virginia? I thought we were in...

Seattle, ah yes of course

Max callin the shots

Sunday, M and V graciously treated us to brunch atop the Space Needle! We got a perfectly clear day to rotate around the restaurant gazing at Seattle below and stuff ourselves with delicious food. Some of the sights included...
Vicki showing D how to find their apartment thru the telescope

Mt. Rainier lurking in the distance

Couple of tourists

Puget Sound in all its blue glory
We just happened to be in Seattle during its Pride Parade which was quite entertaining to watch. It was perhaps the happiest parade I've ever seen...and the most colorful! Rainbows for everyone : )
Biking loud and proud

Rainbow from head to toe

Tranny nuns making babies cry

We had to eventually tear ourselves away from the Pride festivities and as a change of pace, we headed to Lake Washington to tour a beautiful houseboat for sale. We couldn't quite imagine life in a floating house but were quite intrigued...
Oh, let me just step off the front porch onto my boat...

How's that for a watertop view?

No sidewalks, just lake water
Seattle is a lovely city and it's nice to have family an easy drive away, and with such great weather, NW summertime couldn't get much better! We're looking forward to 4th of July festivities in and around Portland in the coming days and Davis gets a four day weekend, so that's even better. Take care everyone!
