Into the Woods

Happy Weekend to you folks. Ours is off to a lovely start, as we started the morning early with another bike race for Davis (he got 3rd, woo!) a trip to the bustling downtown Farmer's Market, and then a hike into the hills just west of our neighborhood. This is our first hike in the area (it's hard to get Davis off his bike, seriously) and it's pretty cool that all this gorgeousness is just steps away from the cityscape. I will let my pictures do the describing...okay and maybe a few words too.
It was the hottest day in Portland yet...our first day in the 90s! These friendly trees kept us cool : )
Moss grows on pretty much anything here
Keepin' it cheesy in the woods
This is not an illusion. The tree was really that big
We reached the historic Pittock Mansion at the top of the hill-- lovely house with some killer views...
Davis taking it all in
We might be dorky, but that view is pretty bangin'...Hood creepin up on the right
Green as ever
Switchbacks are my friends
Oh and we met some friendly faces on the way...check out this old dude I spotted in the rocks
And this subdued fella Davis took a liking to
And we encountered more TV filming! They were shooting for fall's new NBC show Grimm...set in Portland and based on Grimm's fairy tales. We'll be checking it out when it airs, now that we've got the inside scoop : )
A good well-rounded Saturday, folks. Tomorrow we're thinking of biking to Sauvie Island, about 10 miles north of the city...supposed to be a pretty place with beaches and berry picking. Then there's a professional bike race happening about 2 blocks away from our building tomorrow evening. I think you can guess where we'll be. Take it easy dudes. xo

  2. Reading your blog makes me feel very unproductive and lazy. So glad you two are enjoying the fabulous area you live in.
